ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. About Personal Cards ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Personal Cards is the designed to let you store text information in a convient
"free" form with easy retrieval. Its intended use is as a VERY easy to use
phone directory. Your use of it is strictly up to you.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Register ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The registered version is exactly the same in function but will handle up to
500 cards. Be sure it enquire about "Personal Calendar" which is currently
under development.
Register by sending $25 Canadian to the following address:

Please make all checks payable to the "Biomedical Design Centre". Specify 3 1/2

The program Personal Cards is supplied "AS IS" without any warranty of any
kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied
warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
In no event shall the BioMedical Design Centre or the University of Alberta be
liable for any damages, either direct or consequential, caused by the use, or
inability to use, this program, even if BioMedical Design Centre has been
advised of the possibility of such damages.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Options Menu ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Options menu contains commands that you use to set the colors and fonts
used in the cards. The following commands appear in the Option menu:
Colors Set the colors used in the notebook.
Fonts Set the font used by the notebook.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.1. Colors ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can use this option to change the colors used by the cards.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.2. Fonts ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can use this option to change the font used by the cards.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. File Menu ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The File menu contains commands that you use to create, open, and save data
files. In addition, it also contains the command that you use to exit Personal
Cards. The following commands appear in the File menu:
New Creates a new untitled file
Open Opens an existing file
Save Saves any changes to current file
Save As Saves the current file using a new name
Exit Quits Personal Cards
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.1. New ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can create a new file in Personal Cards window by using the New command.
To create a new file, do the following:
o Select the File menu and choose the New command.
The word "Untitled" appears in the title bar of the new file.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.2. Open ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can open a file that exists on any drive or in any directory by using the
Open command. To open a file, do the following:
o Select the File menu and choose the Open command.
A dialog box appears, showing you a list of files in the current directory.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.3. Save ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You use the Save command to save changes you've made to your file. To save
changes to the current file, do the following:
o Select the File menu and choose the Save command.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.4. Save As ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You use the Save As command to name and save a new file.
Follow these steps to save a new file:
1. Select the File menu and choose the Save As command.
A dialog box appears, prompting you for a new filename.

1. Select the down arrow to the right of the Drive list to display all the
drives on your system.
2. Select a drive from the Drive list.
3. Select a directory from the Directory list.
4. Select a file name from the File list or type in a file name and select the
Open pushbutton to display the file you want to edit.

Use Save to store the file you are editing. After the file is saved, the text
remains in the window so that you can continue editing it.
Note: If you are editing a new file, select the Save or Save as choices to
display the Save as pop-up so that you can name the file you are
editing. A file must have a title to be saved.

Use Save as to name and save a new file or to save an existing file under a
different name, in a different directory, or on a different disk.

Undo the last edit command.

Take the currently selected text out of the card and place it in the
clipboard.

Copy the currently selected text from the card and place it in the clipboard.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.4. Paste ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Place the information that is currently in the clipboard into the current card
at the cursor point.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.5. Clear ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Delete the currently selected text.

The OK button closes the Product information dialog.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 11. Find ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Type in the text you wish to locate.
Press Find
If the text is found in any card that card will be displayed.
Press Find Next to find the next card with that text.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12. New Card ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Enter the lastname or any text you wish to appear on the tab (20 characters or
less).
Enter what ever information you wish in the card field up to 490 characters.
Note: You can change or add to this after you have created the card. Simply
click on the card and make any changes you like.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 13. Setting Colors ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Control Description
Backgroud Deck Selects the color of the window behind the deck.
Foreground Card Selects the color of the text on the cards and the tabs.
Background Card Selects the background color of the cards and the tabs.
Apply Updates the card window with the currently selected colors.
